Hey I know I've been neglecting this blog lately but I have a damn good reason: On the 1st of March I moved from Brussels to Dubaï in the UAE (United Arab Emirates). Out of nowhere a great job opportunity just fell on the step of my door, a once in a lifetime opportunity, I just couldn't say no to... So I packed my bags and left. And i'm glad I did! This is the New York of the middle east!!!
I mean at the airport they have crazy waiting lines it feels like a goldrush, everybody wants a piece of "Dubizzle".
Honestly, I found nothing but peace in Dubaï unlike what some of my friends were saying, they don't force non-muslims to be like them at all. We have such a reduced and false view of Arabs and Islam. It's all about mutual respect really.
I haven't felt any type of hate against black people eather. They just kinda stare at me when I walk into a fancy store at the mall but I'm used to that. You see, in Belgium they had 3 security guards per black individual walking through a department store, so this is nothing.
I haven't been here that long but it just feels right. I feel more welcome here than anywhere else i've been before. And so do all the other American and European expats. About 70 to 80 percent of the population are expats in the UAE. I've been told I will never leave Dubaï. We'll see.
Anyway, back to fashion. Have you seen the Rihanna for River Island Collection? I love it! A little predictable to be honnest but still she did a great job. Go RIRI!
